Unknown to many, the island province of Basilan has some fine beaches. One of them is the Malamawi Beach which is about 30 minutes away from the capital Isabela City. The very clean beach has fine white sands and turquoise water excellent for swimming. The place is also well secured. It takes about an hour by ferry from Zamboanga City and a return trip within same day is vary feasible.

The beach is beautiful indeed. The shore line is spectacular. The water is crystal clear, the sand is so fine -you can even brush it in your teeth (i saw one doing it). The beach offers a long shallow to deep shoreline at the center which is so suitable for swimming, its sides left and right are kinda stony but on it you will see corals and some beautiful fishes. So when you come here, be sure to bring snorkel or goggles with you. Im from the northern mountains of the country and going south is really a funfilled relaxing moment to be here. Its one of Basilan's best...

When you heard of MINDANAO you will be afraid because of the negative feedback coming from people who don't stay and have their lives share with the diverse culture of MINDANAONS first thing that comes to anyone's mind when you speak of BASILAN is Abu Sayaff Group (ASG) well the notions are wrong the place is safe. if your the adventurous type the place will likely to be yours its a HIDDEN PARADISE hopefully it will stay that way.

Beach was fine white sand. Basic amenities. Not as crowded as most beaches elsewhere. Everything was perfect but i hope the locals would learn to take more care of their environment. Lots of trash floating in the water. I even saw staff at the port throw plastic soda bottles straight in the water after drinking. Quite sad really. I hope the authorities would be able to address this lest it be too late.

Amazing experience at Malamawi beach. It's indeed not easy to travel to since we're from Manila but definitely worth it. We stayed for only just an hour since we need to go back to Zamboanga City and catch the fastcraft.

Scored it 3, not because of the island but the management. We were asked by the staff to pay for a cottage that we advised we won't be using. 450php, we tried to explain but we are advised it's a requirement.

The beach is so fascinating, it is a crystal clear water and a powdery white sand like in Boracay. The beach has no commercial establishments so you have to bring your own food and stuff for grilling and cooking. The grilling stations for pork and seafoods are separated as to pay respect the muslim visitors who doesn't eat pork. There are sufficient cottages, smoking area, shower room and toilets. The only problems are most of their showers are defective and it is not well maintained. Toilets are dirty and stinky. They don't allow the visitors with plastic bags, cups, etc. So bring only eco friendly materials.

Literally! We are from Makati and Baguio City, up there at the (almost) northern most side of the Philippines. In contrast, this is almost at the southernmost tip...

The place is definitely a hidden paradise. We were escorted from Zamboanga city to this beautiful island in a 30 min fast boat... The beach is silky fine, white, and definitely unspoilt... A perfect getaway...

We hope that once and for all, peace will reign in these lands so that tourists can experience paradise...

The resort can be reached via boat at php5 per person from Isabela City warf crossing a strait to Malamawi Island fir about 5-10minutes. From the boat docking area, you can rent a motorcycle to bring you to the resort. It would take about 20-30 minutes. You can pay at around php200 back and forth. After enjoying the white beach and powdery sand and its elegantly crystal clear water, don't miss their Zipline adventure. Just ask the resort info desk for the arrangement. Aside from an island adventure, dint miss their Rubber Tree plantation and turn your adventure into a more educational one.
