It is indeed tiresome hike with all the stairs but with a true faithful and sincere dedication, all is worth it. Truly a must-see place for the devotees and the pilgrims. It is also believed that whoever visit there with a sincere heart praying for what he wants, will eventually get it.

The view is nice, overlooking Maasin port. The steps going to the top of the statue is estimated to be 250 plus I guess. There are also stations of the cross near the stairs.
People would offer you candles going up, and sell them for 2 pesos, and tell you that candles sold up cost 5 pesos. But its worth it to buy at the top, so you can also help with the contruction/maintenance in the area and also help the sisters managing it.

Lady of Assumption atop Jalleca Hills can pretty much be seen from anywhere in the town of Maasin. It's only 5 - 10 minutes walk from the port. After climbing many steps, you will be at the top of the hill with a giant statue of Mary. Religious subject aside here, it's more than worth the visit for the spectacular views it affords of the town of Maasin.

People come & go especially the adults, sacrifice themselves to go on lots of steps & visit Mama Mary, to air out their problems & worries. Others just visit & see the place to breath fresh air from the, mountain & the ocean breeze.

When feeling down and low, our family usually go here to pray.
Once you reach the summit, there's a chapel where you offer your prayers.
The place is facing the pacific ocean. A plus when you want your energy to be recharged.

I went here with my partners family (around 11 people) the stairs weren't too bad to get up for myself and the younger ones, a few of the older people needed a couple of breaks however we all made it to the top! Such amazing views, i would recommend going here.

This is a wondrous place to be. Every step is worth it. Although I forgot buying candles at the entrance. I have no problems with the place. I was just pissed off with the children who lives the near the area because they kept begging for alms. I did not give them a single penny because I was afraid they might follow me around. Anyway, getting to this place is easy because any tricycle drivers can take you there. You can also buy souvenir items at the main gate. This place is good, I think, for meditation.
