Interesting piece by Damian Hurst which demonstrates an empowered woman and stands towering above the harbour...although many of us women agreed that if that baby really was at nine months gestation, the head would be engaged. Designed by a man..!

The statue of Verity is imposing and dramatic but difficult to capture in a photo...I suspect it is love her or loathe her but I really liked it.

We came to Ilfracombe for a boat trip and as Verity is on the Quay we couldn't really miss her! As in the title she is an interesting landmark for a fairly small town, I guess she is North Devons answer to the New York...More

I guess you either love it or hate it and it is somehow at odds with it's surroundings, but I think it's fabulous and I hope it is helping to encourage visitors and support businesses in the town.

What a waste of money and a completely gross statue. 'Created' by Damian Hurst. Some of these artists continually produce such bizarre pieces which leave the rest of us scratching our heads. They're clearly way too clever for me.

It's not the normal seaside attraction but it gets people talking. The locals are split 50/50 It's just Damian Hurst being himself.
