Stayed at Rowan Cottage for 7 nights, it was absolutely perfect and we are already planning our next visit. The cottage is clean, well equipped and really cosy. More than enough logs for the fire were provided so no need to worry about buying any.
The location is superb – peaceful and quiet with zero light pollution and with easy access to well-marked trails on the estate, and, within a 20 minute
drive to Ballater and Aboyne. You’ll be spoilt for choice with independent delis, cafes and other shops.

We stayed in one of the estate cottages and took advantage of the wonderful scenery and walks. Quality cottages and well marked walking routes for all abilities through to long distance and Munro walks. Excellent base to visit Ballatar Aboyne Ballmoral castle and Braemar. Estate service excellent and welcoming!

We enjoyed our walking at Glen Tanar, through pastures and woods and along the river. There is plenty of parking, and the information brochures include very good maps of the trails.

We had a remarkable experience riding in the Highlands for 2 hours. Maggie, our guide was terrific. Seeing the countryside on horseback is a wonder and beautiful way to see scenery off the beaten path..

Absolutely lovely walk and views. We chose the longest pathway and was not disappointed. Worth a go when you not fancy too much climbing.

Had a lovely romantic walk here. It has well maintained tracks although they are rocky in some places so not necessarily suitable for wheel chairs in all places. The ground is undulating but wasn't difficult and there was something to look in every direction. They supply maps of the various walking routes and The parking is very reasonable at £3. The only thing that would make the estate better is a small tea shop so I could spend even more time there.

Absolutely love Glen Tanar. So many nice walks and the rangers are very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to get up to the Loch for some fishing.

We came here to do some hiking while in the Cairngorms. Cost is 3 pounds per car to park in the lot. Visitor center has bathrooms. Short walk to the church which is really neat. The hike to the lookout is also easy and has some nice views. We then did the old pine hike and it was flat and easy to walk. However signage was not good, even with our map. We almost made a couple wrong turns. No bird or mammal life seen until we got back to the sheep. Boring long walk (10 km) compared to other hiking in the area.
