Stopping off in Hay-on-Wye we took the chance to enjoy a wet but enjoyable riverside walk along the banks of the Wye River. Great way to burn off the calories!

Walked from the town along the river to the shingle beach. Pathways have been all levelled out so good for walking. In hotter months you can take a picnic and there are lots of seats to stop and take in the view.

A peaceful walk from the middle of Hay-on-Wye, past the church, along the old railway line. Enjoyed by fishermen with a permit as well as dog walkers.

We were extraordinarily lucky with the weather this Autumn but if you are rugged up this is a lovely place for a walk at any time of the year. There is a footpath (dog friendly) all along the river and it took us about 15...More

An easy pleasant walk along the river Wye. The pebbly beach at the end of the walk was an ideal place for the dog to swim. I disagree with one of the other reviewers regarding dog mess. We met many dog walkers and there was...More

One of the best walks we have ever done. It is a riverside walk which leads to a little pebbly beach with a small weir where canoes were paddling downstream. Very picturesque. We walked here from Clyro and back again. Well worth it!

If you fancy a spot of sun bathing (if you are lucky) and wild swimming in the Wye river while in Hay, this is the place!

Well worth a visit if in Hay, walk along the river path from the bridge to get the full effect. Great all weathers.

It's just a river and a field that is all. There is a lot of dog poo to tread in. Lots of cow pats to slip in. Lots of water to catch Weil's disease in. And a bumpy track to do your cars suspension in...More

A little, but enjoyable, walk from the town...well worth it. A small pebbly beach. Good place for skimming stones and taking a bathe in the river.

To be honest (without actually having tried to do this), I think it would be very difficult because you have to basically cross a field to get to the river. Someone else may be better placed to give you advice though if they... More
