Walked along the river walk from the town bridge and came to the Warren, a large open grass area bounded on one side by the rather nice river Wye and on the other by low ridge and wood/field. Few seats overlooking the river. Views very...More

booked our stay in Wye on Wye without realising The Warren was here. What a find! Absolutely brilliant for small children and dogs. Lovely woodland area walk leading to a pebble beach which is shallow and safe enough for paddling and swimming (for the dogs)....More

We took our grandsons in July. We took a small BBQ, some buns and sausages, salad, fruit and drinks. We spent hours skimming stones, findking fossils and paddling. Other families were enjoying the environment. Teenagers swimming and messing about. This special place has been much...More

Shortish walk from the town. The wye valley walk goes right past of it and is mainly shaded for most of the walk to the warren. Does get busy and not much shade when you are there so get there early-ish. Stony "beach" and when...More

Lovely footpath walk through the woods. Not too long and well cared for. Cute views. There’s a lovey pebble beach for picnics too.

Stopping off in Hay-on-Wye we took the chance to enjoy a wet but enjoyable riverside walk along the banks of the Wye River. Great way to burn off the calories!

Walked from the town along the river to the shingle beach. Pathways have been all levelled out so good for walking. In hotter months you can take a picnic and there are lots of seats to stop and take in the view.

To be honest (without actually having tried to do this), I think it would be very difficult because you have to basically cross a field to get to the river. Someone else may be better placed to give you advice though if they... More
