About
A thriving, non-professional, theatre company in Welwyn Garden City, staging at least 10 full-length productions a year in a modern 122 seat auditorium within a 17th century barn. Some of the wooden beams at the theatre have been carbon dated to the 16th Century - it really is a beautiful place. There is also a Studio Theatre seating approximately 50 (depending on the presentation) producing all year round. Another wonderful addition to their programme is the Welwyn Drama Festival and the WGC Youth Drama Festival - both drama competitions. Four thriving Youth Groups also operate at the Barn and the building is regularly used as a film location or a Unti Base for film production companies.

Visited for the annual drama festival. After years of trying, I finally won the Waitrose bubbly competition at the end of the festival by correctly identified the acts that the professional adjudicator put in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place! If you've never attended, I highly recommend it. It starts on the Monday and runs to the Saturday with 2-3 acts each night, so if a particular play is not your thing, another is along shortly that you may prefer. They announced the 2024 dates of 20-25 May at the end of the festival which is great as I had to miss one year due to a diary clash after the dates being announced quite late.

Oustanding performances in ' Parlour Song'. A great play delivered very convincingly in a wonderfully intimate setting. I felt privileged in being able to thank such talented actors and very motivated Artistic Director. On the last day of performance, they can often be seen in Theatre Bar and the atmosphere is great. We have seen so many plays here and massively appreciate this wonderful venue which offers so much at low cost. Thank you to all who make this possible. We also saw Black Adder Goes Forth, soon after. A great translation to stage, retaining true essence. Lovely to laugh aloud again.

A nice theatre but they could do some signs- bar, toilets, auditorium. My partner and enjoyed the play, just like blackadder on TV.

So pleased to see the Barn back open. Happy Jack was to their accustomed high standard. The refurbishment means the Barn is looking at its best.

We saw a cracking show of Boudicca at the barn in Welwyn Garden City. the company did a terrific job of the performance and the theatre itself is a wonderful little venue you to have in our town.
worth a visit if you're not from the area but if you are in the area it's somewhere you should go regularly because you can see some terrific shows.

Went to see Dinner yesterday at the Barn theatre.
Lovely theatre.
Excellent performance with some very good talent.
But I was stunned by the language in the play. Was it really necessary?. I was one of the youngest there and was quite offended by it and stunned considering the average age of the audience would be quite high
