Though surrounded by busy town life, it is a peaceful place. You can just relax here, imagine what the place used to look like in the time of its glory.. And you can be sure there'll be some squirrels accompanying you :)

Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. There are enough ruins left for you to imagine what the place looked like before the priory was closed by Henry VIII and ruined during the Siege of Colchester in 1648. There is a small park...More

i have been dropping in here before or after a wander around the town. There is all sort of life here, ladies catching up with the newspaper, romantic couples, young families having a play on the neat trimmed grass ways. I like it here.

couldnt get in there but looked amazing from walls and railings its remains and some basic areas but had hoped for more info but hey ho

Wow this place is full of character ! When the local winos are not smoking joints on the graves which can be quite intimidating for some family’s to walk past. We tend to walk through every other day and not a pcso in sight. Regardless...More

The priory is a ruin with a newer version built next to it. But the original which was part destroyed by Henry 8th when he tried to get rid of the church back in the day, still stands in the grounds of the new one...More
