We are visiting Colchester for a 70th birthday and booked Peaks House. We all enjoyed the Dutch Quarter. Very peaceful, lovely to have a wander the streets and enjoy the living history.
You need to take a good stroll and look carefully at the history of this Dutch built area of Colchester, again very interesting.
A bit tucked away and not an area you would go out your way to visit, but all said worth a small detour. Pleasant.

Had a quick wander throught the streets of the dutch quater. Lots of nice old houses, but nothing else.. Pleasant enough, but dont go out of your way unless you are interested in looking at old houses.

Well worth finding this area in Colchester. Quite different to the main town. Buildings are interesting.
It is easy to find from the High street as West Stockwell Street is next to the Town Hall. The other streets are all connected. As expected none of these houses have double glazing or Upvc doors or windows! It was apparently through the Dutch...More
Went on a guided tour from the Visitors centre and passed through this area. The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting and the tour was good value for money.
