This is a beautiful building in the centre of Ipswich on our first visit. The staff that we met were extremely pleasant and helpful and, in particular, we were very impressed with the Constable and Gainsborough Room. Some of the former's paintings prompted us to...More

My partner doesn’t come from Ipswich & has never been here before but he loved it. The staff were very friendly & answered any questions we had. Would definitely recommend a visit & it’s also free to go in.

Visited here to see Constable & Gainborough paintings and was not disappointed. Lovely old house with interesting rooms, panelling, displays, paintings etc. Well worth a visit, free admission and easy to spend 2-3 hours admiring everything

Yes, the Gainsboroughs and Constables are nice. but the mansion itself with furniture ranging through the ages, is in itself worth a visit. Interesting for everybody interested in the Middle Ages, the Victorians and everything in between.
