The exhibits at the Fisheries museum focus on the development of the fishing industry and the manufacturing process. The museum shows how the fishing industry has evolved from 1800th up to today. The museum explains how Alesund became one of the largest exporter of klipfish in Europe. Another exhibition presents the manufacturing of cod-liver oil, displayed in the museum are models and equipment. The museum offers guided tours of the Fisheries museum every Saturday and Sunday during the summer season. (01.06.17 – 31.08.17) The guided tour starts 1 pm and 3 pm. You can buy combined tickets that are valid for both the Fisheries Museum and Aalesunds Museum. The Fisheries museum is only open in the summerseason (01.06.17 - 31.08.17) but you can book guided tours at the museum.

With fish having palyed such an important part in local life this is a very good introduction to what it's all about. It would help to have bilingual signs throughout (and not just at the Rolls Royce exhibit) as the English language guides are not...More

Like everything else in Alesund, the building is not large and it's very unassuming. However, the museum is laid out in a well thought out manner and quite informative. There is a story to tell through this museum -- of how the Norwegian cod industry...More

The museum is located in the centre of Alesund, in the old town, in an old historical building, it shows many different exhibitions on the Norwegian fishing industry, from the old times to the modern era, really interesting to visit.
