This is a great trip from the stop in the centre. A popular summer destination to visit with a few restaurants and a gallery. It is magical if you do not have a lot of time to explore the fjords.

Taking the boat out to see Hovedøya is definitely worth it in the summer. There’s a small beach, some ruins and nice views of both the Oslo fjord and part of Oslo’s skyline.

Nice place to relax on the beach in Oslo. Take the boat ( 10 min ) and enjoy a day at beach or find your own place somewhere on the island

This Island is very scenic with wonderful walks through the woods and along the shore. We went during "off" season so there were not many people there.

Such an interesting place to explore, historic, unspoilt, not crowded, and a great cafe! The main pathways are well signposted, but it is fun to get off the beaten track and explore the minor tracks. They are not so well marked, but the island is...More

Took the ferry and wandered around, nice break from the city with interesting buildings and trees, great views of the city and surrounding islands. Small cafe for coffee and snacks.

free access by boat from pier if you have a day pass which covers the public transport, a few small islands that can be visited using the day travel pass.

Sometime city life can be too much and you just want some peace and quiet. Hovedøya is a beautiful hidden gem of an island located five minutes away from the centre of Oslo. A short ferry trip will take you to the island where you...More
