I became a member of the Polar bear society at the tourist information centre. It was a unique thing to do and I received a certificate, a sticker and a little Polar bear badge and felt proud that I had travelled so far North!

Excellent little museum with a variety of stuffed animals including of course the obligatory polar bear. Much less "tourist tat" than elsewhere, and the polar-bear-shaped cookie cutter is great. The "polar bear pawprints" to the museum are a nice touch. The Royal & Ancient Polar...More

Lovely friendly people. Office and tourist centre was right by the Hurtigruten terminal, steps from the gangway. Easy to join on line then spend time in the mix of shop and tourist office.

Located at the tourist office this is a great little museum. There are plenty of stuffed birds if you are into birds as well as some of the mammals of the area. Info boards with the history makes this a good place to stop.

The Polar Bear Society Museum is located inside the tourist information office at Hammerfest. Entry is free of charge and it is good to walk around and read the information and see many of the stuffed animals and birds found in the region.

This little ‘’museum’’ shows a lot of the many animals that live in the Arctic. In this way you get to see the animals instead of ready about them or looking at photographs. It has no scientific purpose, but when you have a little bit...More
