Quite an unusual sight seeing destination, but a must if you are interested in how the viennese celebrate the end of life. There are impressive graveyards commissioned even for those who are stil alive. There are several high profiled people burried, most famous now Udo...More

First of all I do want to say that the workers were very helpful. They emailed me right away with the location numbers of my relatives. I did have a question about the location of one of them and came when their office is closed...More

We always visit the cemeteries in the countries that we visit. Cemeteries can give a tremendous amount of history or insight about a city or country and the Zentralfriedhof of Vienna did not disappoint. The majority of the cemetery is beautifully maintained but like all...More

We visited the cemetery using the number 6 tram which stops outside. It's a huge place but there is a bus which goes around if you need it. There are separate sections for different religions and denominations and tombs of many famous musicians. The cage...More

Burial place of the likes of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert and others. No place like Vienna for those who love classical music where you can follow the trail of greats like these. Combine with St. Marx Cemetery.

I went to visit Beethoven grave and was surprised at how unassuming it was. I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a lavish tomb with statues and sad angels. I was also disgusted by the hoards who descended upon his grave with their selfie...More

It's a bit far outside of the city (and can be accessed by surface light rail), but is a beautiful place. The grounds are well kept and seeing the graves of so many famous composers is impressive.

The Jewish portion of the cemetery is accessible whenever the cemetery is open. I believe the hours are 7am to 7pm most days.
