Most churches have paintings covering every inch of the walls, but here, they are bare to better reflect the light from the various-sized windows (by design). Two side altars have famous painted alterpieces which are worth spending some time admiring.

When you think that some of these churches are almost a thousand years old, it becomes even more astonishing that they were built at all, but then rebuilt or refurbished as needed. This church is no exception. While It may not be as ornate as...More

I came here many times already – no I’m not religious, but there is something special about this church. It’s not one of those breathtaking and beautiful churches like many others. When you enter the church it looks quite simple, and most of the time...More

This church was unexpected and we were overawed by the white on white restoration that makes it stand out for its simplicity. If you want excessive gold...this is not for you. This had angled wooden benches to partially lie back to look at the cupola....More

Another lovely House of Worship, this gothic church is well with a visit. The stained glass windows are beautiful. A peaceful respite from the pre Christmas hustle and bustle

Salzburg is a great city to walk with no plan and see whatever you come upon...and this beautiful church is a sight not to miss. The cavernous space is cool and dark. Very peaceful.

The Franziskanerkirche is built in the typical French gothic style and it has all the trappings of what you'd expect from a church - carvings, huge domes, stained glasses and great architecture all over!
