Set off for Carnival Bridge to visit the characteristic places and follow the footprints of the Knights of Malta...characteristic places and unforgettable promenades. We stayed in Sliema an isthmus of land on the sea that in no time takes you to the other side of Valletta, the capital of the island. Rocks overlooking the sea and beautiful to get lost in the streets all up and down with views of the sea. Verandas and colorful doors typical of the sun make the town a gem. Some parts still to be restored and very scruffy. Wires of light that in multiple quantities run on the cornices of buildings. Walk to the sea with cat statue and colonies of beautiful kittens. Characteristic places to eat international but also characteristic foods of the place. Porches with shops and clubs of all kinds. Made subscription with unlimited rides on buses at 19.90 euros directly at the airport. Very convenient stops and punctual buses. Also because you drive in reverse.... and it's not easy to get into their mindset! Malta was for a long time an English colony. Now it is autonomous, I recommend staying here because much cheaper than the capital. Accommodation directly on the sea!

The promenade in Sliema is wonderful—huge, wide, and well-maintained. There are plenty of benches. In some spots, you can take a nice swim or just sunbathe. Strolling there after dinner is truly refreshing. It's beautiful to see the boats and buildings reflecting on the sea. The air is lovely. There are also nice little places to stop for a drink or a snack. It’s one of the things about Malta that I will always cherish.

I really liked it, walking there is really pleasant, running, doing sports, offers so much, with the sea and very particular beaches below and various outdoor venues! At sunset in my opinion is enviable! Reflections and lights, amazing scenery!

Welcome to Sliema, great views of the Harbour, Valletta and the sea.

Many touristy things to see and book, the Ferries of which there are many, short or long tips available, all the buses you will need, Hop on/off north or south routes Blue/north Red/south 20 euros each per day quite a long route about 3hrs each.
Local island buses go all over and are very frequent and very cheap 21 euros each for 7 days unlimited travel the bargain of the holiday.

Many many bars, restaurants, shops, cafes, snack outlets, a few shopping centres All good and value for money.

Sliema promenade goes a long way from the entrance to Manoel Island up to the Point shopping area then all the way north to St Julian's bay so its not just all at the ferries area.
Its a very popular area with tourists and locals, all the Maltese speak good English so don't be wary of asking a question or just chatting.

The only reason Its not 5 star is the obvious effect of the endless building projects, dust covering everything, just look at the cars, and some lack of street cleaning in some bar/ restaurant areas. If everything was de-dusted and cleaned it would be back again fairly soon.

So, Sliema is not just a good base to holiday from but there's plenty to enjoy and see as well. And the most impressive things are free, the sights the views the ambience.

I think it is so sad the amount of rubbish in the streets and cigarette ends.

I appreciate some of the rubbish is caused by tourists. We have the same in Cornwall England

However we have groups of people who litter pick and have a pride in our area. We also have more closed bins and more regular emptying of them in the holiday season.

We have stayed in Triq Windsor for a week now. Apart from the African gentleman who did a good job picking up litter each day it's got worse.

If you go in to the ocean you are surrounded by cigarette ends. Its disgusting and very bad for the environment

I would not recommend Sliema as a holiday destination to anyone.

There is so much to improve i cannot say where about to start. Malta in common is unreasonably expensive for its quality of infrastructure, services and improvements. City extremely dirty, most buildings empty from first floor up. No public toilets and no running water anywhere in public areas, Beaches are wonderful but have no services other than expensive stands if any whatsoever. Tourist attractions in bad shape, most shocking is blue lagoon experience, no foothpath on rocks, one public toilet for hundreds of people and unfair prices as there is nowhere else to go. Renting a car is bad too, not just price but parking is impossible, driving is not better too, infrastructure is from 19 th century and drivers do not follow any rules anywhere. Food is quite expensive without equal service too. I recommend to visit malta only for shorter trips as it is not worth it.

We used to walk along various parts of the promenade in the evening, watching the sun set, and the people swimming off the rocks. One of the days we walked down to Tigne point, or as far as we could reach - some of the coastal path was block off. Well worth the effort.

Walked along the promenade most evenings whilst staying on our boat for the week in Manoel Island Yacht Marina.
Lovely walk passing the countless places to eat and have a drink. Lovely watching the local folk sitting on the benches chatting the night away. There are a couple of places on the promenade side serving delicious ice creams that we visited instead of having a dessert.
Catch the time right, and you’ll experience the fireworks that seem to go off very randomly.

Amazing views over to Valletta and you can also catch a ferry here to Valletta across the harbour. You can walk along the promenade from Manoel Island the whole 5km/3 miles to Spinola Bay in St Julian's, although I only walked until the end ofThe Strand before turning back to Manoel Island where I'd parked. Great place to sit and watch the activity on the water and admire the views.
