The statue is just the call
The path where the feline colony is located is cared for and well structured. As indeed the public spaces of the city. A space to live where you can take your children to socialize with cats who live quietly safe from the traffic of the street above

    Giant Cat Sculpture
This big sculpture was created by Matthew Pandolfino and pretty much sits in the middle of Independence Garden. It’s a colourful sculpture of a big cat, so no doubt kids will like it. Oddly, the statue is sorted on top of the toilet building, so the best view is from the pavement above the garden.

    Good walk
The surrounding landscape is beautiful. It is worth the walk along the coast, but not to see the cat but to enjoy the coast. I would recommend making a long walk along the sidewalk around the entire beach.

    Socks a personal favourite
The repaint is doing nothing for it! If you like actual cats, well you're in for a treat, loads of them, everywhere, and people feeding that will tell you their names, socks a personal favourite. But if you're into cat statues, well there are better in the world!

The cats are beautiful, contented, clean and well cared for. They have a large selection of comfortable, cosy beds which are well protected from the weather. The park is easy to find on the seafront with the huge cat statue on top of a roof, easily spotted as you pass by.

As you’re walking along the waterside promenade from Sliema to Balluta Bay, you’ll notice a huge colourful sculpture of a cat. It stands (or should that be ‘sits’?) prominently in the Independence Garden along the Tower Road promenade. It actually sits on the roof of the public toilet in the garden.

The large cat sculpture is the work of Matthew Pandolfino. It was inaugurated a few years ago during the Sliema Art Festival.

Independence Garden is a local landmark overlooking Balluta Bay; a bit of a wander through the garden will reveal its quirky and colourful style. Curiously, the garden is home to many stray cats; they are well looked after by locals who feed them daily, as well as passersby and visitors to the garden who stop to pet them or cuddle them.

You can’t miss the sculpture, and its quirky colours make it stand out. It's occasionally given paint makeovers, so it may well be different to the photograph I've attached. If you are a confirmed cat lover you may want to make a special trip to see it; otherwise, don’t go out of your way to visit it especially, as on a grand scale it’s not particularly noteworthy. It's easy to get to. Just walk the waterside promenade from Sleima towards Balluta Bay and you won't miss it.

A very clean area especially for cats to feel safe and be looked after. There are a lot of cat carriers converted into beds plus some proper little "houses" for them. They are well fed and clean. Well done the lady responsible.

This cat looks so sad. It was beautifully painted. When you look from the left it looks perfect, but from the right you can see it is blind in the right eye with sores running down its cheek.

Quirky statue on the seafront between Sliema and St Julian's marking the site of the cat sanctuary in the gardens below by the sea. Lots of cats if that is what you like and all appeared in good condition

By accident we saw the cat statue. We like cats and so do the people of Malta. We saw a lot of cathomes, food and water on the street. Well done Maltese people.
