One of most picturesque parts of Malta. We crossed from Valletta by luzzu - traditional fishing boat. It’s cheap and gives you a much better experience than the ferry. We took a little chochooo train to show us the best sites - totally unnecessary. Everything is very close, so just walk around and enjoy both the churches and the narrow streets.

We were in Malta for 3 days and we wanted to see as much as we could so we ventured over to the 3 cities which consisted of 3 churches. After making our way to all 3 churches, we toured the waterfront and the fort. Was an absoulte lovely day, not many crowds.

The first thing you will notice as you get off the ferry, how quiet it is and so fewer people. A short walk and you are in narrow windy streets that cars in some cases are to big to fit. Hours could be spent just wandering around and getting nowhere.

THe three cities are just across the water from Valletta and best accessed by ferry. There are lots of winding streets and churches and good views to enjoy. Information boards are strategically located to tell you about the history.

The views from the 3 cities towards Valletta are magnificent and the opposite too!!! It is good to walk through the alleys of these places, the surprises are numerous and each street corner offers a different landscape. Fort St Angelo is splendid and very informative, the restaurants along the canals are varied and very pleasant....the boat shuttle to Valletta (and back) is very practical and regular - every 30 minutes. If you stay several days, take the unlimited weekly ticket for €10 and come and come back as many times as you want (until midnight max). If you have a rental car, plenty of free spaces available...
Much quieter place than Valletta, just as beautiful and convenient to everything.

We took the ferry over from Valletta, beautiful trip over. Hopes were high. It was a Tuesday, we found the market, but no disrespect meant, we were hugely underwhelmed. Walking further back in we went to the Inquisitors Palace, paid a nominal amount and found it very intriguing. Peak season but very quiet in there, shame, as I think many people would find it an eye opener. Left looking for somewhere to get a drink. The main square was under a lot of construction, drilling and cordoned off, quick detour and we were back down by the harbour to get a drink there. Seemed hugely inflated prices to me for two soft drinks.
Like the review title says, a mixed bag. Don’t get me wrong, some of the little side streets are truly stunning. But wasn’t sure enough to pique our interest. Sorry

Take the boat ride only 2€ pp and have such a romantic and picturesque entry to the 3 cities. Usually the gondolas will fill the boat up to about 5-6 people so I recommend getting the seats closest to the front for the best views. Once you arrive definitely take the train guided tour which will save you time walking around all 3 cities. For just 6€ pp it's a decent tour and also allows you to spot streets to come back to walk at. The rest of the time can be spent walking and just getting lost on the Maltese streets, there's also some good restaurants to choose from!

We stayed in Cospicua / Bormla at the top of the hill and spent a lot of time wandering slowly around. It’s very pretty and friendly although beware of the hills!

Taking the ferry across to Valletta is simple and includes a ticket for the Barrakka lift although we also paid a boatman to take us across in one of the little outboard traditional wooden boats which was wonderful!

There are several good restaurants here and the convenience shop is very helpful. A walk around the ramparts of each city is highly recommended.

Just beautiful! You can take a bus to Valetta and then a small boat to one of the three cities for 4 euros p/p. The owner of the gondola offers us a half hour by boat to see the three cities from the water side. Was well worth it. 8 euros P/P and we saw beautiful view from the water, and was lots of fun. You can walk from city to city and grab nice lunch anywhere.

Less touristic area, but with the hear, we didn’t really walk around too much. Very quiet and some areas were quite pretty.
I think I enjoyed the boat ride across in the water taxi yo be honest as it was so cooling in the heat. The boats charge 2 euros one way, maximum of 6 people per boat. Again we didn’t go around to all 3 cities as it was too hot.
