Xaghra is not a large village, yet, to have a Parish Church so rich in treasures, makes this place unique. But what is really unique is not the amount of gold and silver that is found in usually all the Maltese and Gozitan churches, but rather the original way in which, all the walls – over 10 metres high, are covered with marble, with a very original design. Really worth visiting.

Definitely worth a look when you visit Xaghra - the church was built in late 17th century and has impressive limestone facade overlooking the main square of the town. The interior is equally great - it's decorated with marble, and it also includes stained glass windows. The dome is another great architectural part of the church.

As well as with most of the churches in Malta and Gozo, it might be almost impossible to visit outside the service times. Beautiful interior with marble.

The square in front of this church is small. The building is unremarkable. Just another church. Not visit worthy.

Though the current building was built between 1815-1855, the first church at the same place dates back to 1692. Before that, there was a chapel at the same spot since 13th century.

As are the churches in other towns, this church is also the center of social activity in Xaghra. We went to the church both in day time and night time and especially, at night, embellished with colorful lights, it was like a fairy tale monument.

Spent 10 days in Xaghra in September. It was the Festa and the church was absolutely fantastic, many events happening all week. The services and choirs, marching bands and the whole Square beautifully decorated. The church itself was magnificent with beautiful chandeliers and decorations. There were many priests and bishops and a great atmosphere all week.

Unassuming from the outside but really gorgeous inside. The peaceful centre of the town square, the church forecourt is also the football pitch for local kids in the evenings

When we visited we were lucky enough to be given a guided tour by a local gentleman that just seemed to be helping there he explained all the statues & paintings to us giving us the full history of each with a great passion that made this an unforgettable experience & this was offered entirely free just an example of the locals passion & feelings for this place.
Please remember it is a working church so dress accordingly & respect the services should they be happening but don’t miss this gem.

The people of Gozo obviously love their churches and it's easy to see why. A beautifully kept building with a lot of intricate decoration. Well worth a visit if you're in the town square.
