Great clean beach with wide walking paths and great parks. Close to lots of delicious cafes, bars and restaurants. Perfect for fish and chips on the beach too. Lots of kite surfers out on the water, interesting to sit and watch.

Beautiful Long Beach and great promenade to walk, fun to watch kite surfers and spectacular sunset. However 3-4 wide strip of seaweed on beach and in water makes this not a great beach.

Kids love it, adults love it and teenagers jump off the pier. Clean sand and easy access and clear water.

Great Fish and Chips and ice cream. This is a take-out but the service is good. Fish and Chips, Souvlaki, Burgers, Snacks and a Garden Salad. The service was good and there is a little nook just a few steps from the ice cream shop...More

Even though it was a rather hot morning, our walking group chose to walk along the beach trail on a Sunday morning. The path was very busy. Bikes, walkers, strollers all taking up the path. Unfortunately the bikes, and in groups, seem to think that...More

Altona Beach is ok. Great for swimming with kids as the water level is quiet low (knee height) for quite some way out. Sand is a little gritty, and dry -or too wet where water is- to make a decent sandcastle but kid’s had fun...More

It shocks me that anyone would actually go to this beach. But if you like bad smells, slime, seaweed, pollution, the scum of the outer western suburbs...etc. then this is the place for you.

This beach is safe for families with children because of the gentle entry slope. Plenty to occupy the whole family and the ships in Pier Street are only a short walk away if you forget to bring something

Swam here today ( 12/12/18) hot day . Swimming here is possible but you have to walk about a 100 metres to get a reasonable depth when the tide is out. But it’s wonderful soft sand so easy to walk on.

No booking required at all. And you are allowed to take your own food and drinks if you wish to do a picnic as well. There are very clean public toilets available and shops if you rather eat out while there.
