Neat avant garde church from the outside, but don't forget to take a look inside. They bare bulbs hanging like stars from the ceiling. Don't forget to look left and check out the beautiful organ pipes. When we popped in, we had the privilege of...More

I love the churches of Iceland.. from the tiny and quaint, to these monoliths. They always seem to be built to be viewed and appreciated from afar, and this is no different. It towers over the town and during our visit was stark white against...More

This is a bit out of the way, but if you're in the area, a visit to this church is really worth it. We stayed nearby and walked over to see the interior - really unique. Definitely recommend a visit.

Gorgeous design inside and out. The beautiful architecture dominated the town’s skyline. Only wish I could have heard someone play the fabulous organ.

A church with a very distinctive architecture on top of a hill in Stykkisholmur. The interior is very sober like all other churches in Iceland but your attention is immediately drawn to the beautiful painting of a floating Madonna and Child behind the altar. Also...More

If you are visiting the village, have a walk and visit it. We were lucky to get there on a "sunny" sunset. Enjoy!

Interesting modernly designed church. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. I personally prefer the more traditional churches, but it is nice to read about the architecture and how the roof was designed to look like a whale’s tale. The inside...More
