Life, death and religious themes are served in a fancy manner in this cathedral. This church is not only significant for its building style, representing the Scandinavian pre war style, called the national romantic era. National romantic era borrowed inspiration from myths and traditions. What...More

I really like the exterior of this church. This is the most beautiful example of National Romantic Style. The frescoes inside are quite interesting, and controversial: a winged serpent and naked angels. Worth seeing, and it's free, of course.

You really have to go inside the church and look the frescos made by Hugo Simberg. Paintings like these you rarele see in Cathedrals. On the edges you can see the 12 naked little boys carrying long green plant. Most famous is the Wounded Angel,...More

I have visited a number of churches and cathedrals in the past. This one took my breath away when I walked in. The outside is not so distinctive in the sense that it is built with stones and clean-lined. But once you are in, the...More

Tampereen Tuomionkirkko contains some very impreesive artwork. The most famous painting inside is the "wounded angel". The artwork around the perimeter of the cathedral caused quite a stir back in the day, as it was a series of some "anatomically correct" naked young boys. Nowadays,...More

We were unable to enter the Tampere Cathedral on the day we visited Tampere. The Cathedral was closed. I can not offer an opinion on the inside of the Cathedral. The building itself is beautiful. It’s very close to the main train station (5min. Walk)...More

Amazing, must see. A little bit hidden but with some help it is easy to find. It's like an oldfashioned-middle European castle... and inside. Unique. I loved the paintings. Worth it!

As far as I can remember it was 10.00 to 17.00 but ceremonies or services could mean that this is adapted. We went there in the early afternoon at around 13.00.
