Starts from Tampere train station. Goes through the city center towards Pyynikki area. Many cafes, bars, shops, and other services are nearby. Not particularily nice and cozy but good, easy and convenient way and start for city exploration.

This street is the main street in Tampere with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes.
At the moment, the 1-kilometer long street is constructed for the tram traffic.

The street remains one of the best in the city even now, when it is laid tram tracks and it is dug. There are many architectural and cultural monuments - town hall, theater, etc., the largest shops.

We visited Christmas market at Hameenkatu the weekend before Christmas. The place was abuzz with people of all ages. Besides Christmas market there are cafes, restaurants, shops and a park in the vicinity. Excellent area to hangout in Tampere.

Tampere Festival of Light decorate Hämeenkatu in the darkest time of the year. They bring their own charm to the main street of Tampere. Pleasant to go shopping.

Hämeenkatu is the main street of Tampere. There are two department stores on street plus a lot of small shops coffees etc on the street. On Hämeenkatu there is the bridge that goes over Tammerkoski River.

Nowadays you cannot drive the whole street and it is for nobody. Just don't go there. There is grass that looks like plastic.
