Renovated textile mills have been renovated into bars, shops, offices and restaurants. Really enjoyed the Finland artist alley and vintage second hand stores.

This string of factories adorn the river. It is well worth a stroll among them. They reminded me of Manchester, NH and demonstrate the rea possibilities for rehabilitating old mills into smoething magnificent

A must see if you are visiting Tampere. Located near the museum center Vapriikki. There's also a park nearby.

The Finlayson area is located by the Tammerkoski rapids. It was founded in 1820 by James Finlayson from Scotland. He noticed the energy potential of free rapids.

The Finlayson textile manufacturing ended in Tampere at the beginning of the 1990s. The old factory buildings are left. Today there are museums, offices, bars, restaurants, a movie theater, and a shopping center.

This summer, you can find Finland’s first rooftop walk on the roofs of these historic buildings. There is also a rooftop cafe.

This area is nice for an after dinner stroll. Nice asphalt painting and song quotations. Still very quiet due to Corona, and some restaurants closed.

The massive former cotton factory complex had little visible life on a Friday in July. All I could see were business offices, no terraces or other activities were in the open. I visited the free Finnish Labour Museum, looked at the Finlayson Palace terrace for a lunch possibility and continued over the bridge to Tampella.

The Finlayson Area is a fantastic area close to water.
It was build by a Scottsman as a Cotton Mill and to day this big area is full off different life, Museums, dining place, theater, shops and offices and lots of things to do.
Go there and see the history of Tampere.

The industrial buildings themselves are interesting and well-maintained, however, there was really not much to see there even on Friday evening. Some restaurants or shops etc. but enough just for a short walk. For a really short and fast walk actually as there were several strange gothic people and boy gangs here and there, some of them seemed druggers or a bit agressive, I was happy that I was not walking there only by myself.
