This sculpture is designed by the Finnish sculptor Jussi Mäntynen. It is located in the Library Park in the Tammerkoski district. The sculpture depicts two swans reaching upwards. The sculpture is cast in bronze and its height with the granite pedestal is 2½ meters. Jussi Mäntynen is considered to be the best-known Finnish creator of animal sculptures. He became acquainted with the external properties of animals while working at the University of Helsinki Animal Museum for a total of almost 30 years. With this Swans sculpture, Mäntynen won the Grand Prix at the Paris World's Fair in 1937. The city of Tampere acquired a light from the statue in 1938, and it was unveiled in the same year on the shores of Tammerkoski in Library Park.
