This grey granite church was designed by Lars Sonck in National Romantic style and it was completed in 1912. It is one of the most prominent landmarks of Helsinki. The seven German bells in the granite tower play a tune by Jean Sibelius at noon...More

Your run of the mill Finnish church. Big inside and people hold big weddings here. Have been to a wedding here and enjoyed quite a bit.

A Lutheran church in the Kallio district of Helsinki. It is architecturally in art nouveau style and stands on a rock in an imposing way.

From far you see the massif tower in the air. The building is worthwhile to visit, as so many buildings in Helsinki, a quite bulky structure of grey stones. The interior of the church can be viewed. 3/5 but probably a must see in Heldsnki.

Outstanding church could be easily seen from the hotel we stayed in good landmark. Worth the walk up the hill to have a look.

This is a church by the leading Finnish Jugend/Art Nouveau Architect Lars Sonck, built in 1910's. This is at the end of the Jugend period, so it kind of leans towards American skyscraper modernism. Beautiful, great feel for material

This distinctive modern church is located about 2km from the centre of Helsinki. I walked there, but it is probably possible to get there by tram also. The church itself is nice enough but as with most Finnish churches the interior is fairly sparse.

This tall monolithic structure stands out like a beacon in Helsinki and can be seen in the distance by almost everyone. We just wanted to see what it was, so my wife and I walked the long straight street up to the front and found...More
