I more or less stumbled by chance upon this former railway track turned into a walking and cycling path. I didn't walk the whole distance, just a few blocks westward from its beginning on (or under) Mannerheimintie. Walking there is a pleasant experience as there...More

Baana is a 1,3 km long route from Kiasma to Ruoholahti, opened in June 2012. It is a former harbor railway which became useless and it was converted to a passage for light traffic. It has its own lanes for bicycles and pedestrians. It is...More

Its for you who always wanted to play real life GTA legally. I love feeling of speeding over 40km/h and pass by all normal people who bike only 15-25 km/h. Remember to ring your bell (get loud one) because more than one of five people...More

A very convenient lane to cross the city and avoid the crowd and traffic. Starts from Kiasma Modern Art Museum and lane ends at Ruoholahti/Hietalahti.

Baana is a good way to cut off the traffic if you are in the centre and want to get to west harbour or the newly constructed parts of the city. It's runs in old railway line grotto.

There used to be a railway that ran right across the city of Helsinki. That got torn out a few years back and they decided to put a pedestrian and bike lane right there where it used to run. Very handy. The baana runs from...More

Baana is a sort of scenic road that goes through downtown Helsinki. An old railway used to be in its place, but a couple of years ago it was turned into this pedestrian zone. I guess the designers were going for a sort of High...More

Baana is the new pedestrian zone made on the old railway in Central Helsinki. Its a good way to walk around and enjoy nice garden surroundings. "Baana", is the finnish slang word for a highway.
