Even the second time around, this place was still amazing to me! The church's design is so unique! Built in 1965, this Lutheran church by the name of Temppeliaukio church, is carved into solid rock. it has large copper domes and a beautiful massive pipe...More

As harsh as it might sound, after all this is a church. Built inside a rock. I call it a gimmick. Nonetheless it was quite interesting to see a ceremony of... something... :) The acoustics are great by the way.

I took a bus tour which stopped at the Rock Church. It's interesting architecture, unlike many other churches which I'd visited before. Some parts of the interior like the ceiling and the altar blend in naturally with the rock. Worth visiting especially when you've an...More

The rock church was a good place to visit - very calm and peaceful inside. It would have been better to go when a choir was singing to really hear the acoustics.

This is another amazing modern church that strengthens Finland's reputation as the design centre of Europe. I was memorised by the roof, made of copper tape, held by concrete beams. The "rock" into which the church is carved is some serious pink granite.

Looks like a bunker from the outside but inside it's beautiful. Almost silent if it isn't busy, and great to sit inside and take a moment. The contrast of blue skies (on sunny days) with natural rock and metals, makes it really spectacular. Particularly recommended...More

This place is already awe-inspiring when you walk in, but then when you learn about how it was made, age of the stones and the intent behind its construction, it's even better! Totally worth the quick trip to here (easily accessible by tram or public...More

The church is only a short walk away from the central station and worth the strole. An interesting building and a nice place to relax out of the bitter wind for a few minutes.

Fair question! Official Helsinki web page gives following answer: "Closed during church ceremonies and events." I would recommend to contact tourist office to get detailed information. Good luck
