We enjoyed seeing and learning about Artic culture, we didn't like that some of the exhibits didn't have an english translation.

A wide scope on the history and people both of Rovaniemi and Lappland. Includes also a science center of the arctic environent. Something for the whole family. A beatiful building in a great location next to The riverside.

The entrance is €12, but we are seniors so €8 and by chance it was Mother's Day, so I got in free.... just as well it was only €8 altogether, rather than €24.... The building is interesting and warm but the exhibitions are a little disappointing... lots of interactive stuff for kids... the grandchildren would have enjoyed it.... and so... More

Arktikum is situated by the river Ounasjoki at the center of Rovaniemi. Just 15 min walk from center next to Martini knife factory shop and museum collection. Exhibitions show the geological history and animals living at the north. The other part of exhibition shows what has happened to Rovaniemi in the past and different people living there then and now.

They display two sections of exhibitions. We have found the arctic life and the soummi life displays very interesting. They aurora exhibit could have been more informational- i.e. they screen a movie showing the aurora and have some written text to describe it, but I feel combining the two into the movie could have been useful. VERY interesting. We loved... More

Arktikum is beautifully located on the riverside in a very modern building. However, the information given is mostly superficial and not very detailed. Facts from different topics are mixed. However, the museum might be good with kids or for a first impression on the topics offered. We had visited the Sida museum in Inari before (excellent arctic and Sami museum... More

This Museum are unique compare with other Museum. The exhibition are very special and to let us more understand about Arctic life and especially northern light. Don't miss it when visiting Rovaniemi.

Good museum within walking distance of city centre and located by the river. Split into a history of the area over the last 100 years, which I found very interesting, and a section on climate change and the arctic. We spent a couple of hours here. For 20 euros you can buy a ticket that allows entry to the science... More
