Situated about 8 km NNE from Inari village we reached the church after a nice adventurous trip by snowmobile through snowy forest and over icy lakes. Although a simple construction it is still impressive. If - like us - you visit the church in winter,...More

it's a really lovely walk to the church (4.5km one way). turn left at the crossroad, this is a little confusing, but just follow the red sticks.

A 250 year old church , still in use, but only for special events. Very austere, but interesting because of it's age. I believe it is accessible only by sled , snowmobile, or on foot.

What a beautiful justice church. The simplicity really spoke to the beauty of the surroundings. I can well imagine a perfect winter wedding.

We arrived on our snow mobiles and one or two of us floundered happily in the deep snow as soon as we disembarked..Our guide told us a lot about the Church. It seemed a holy place, surrounded by the quiet forests............

Again, visited on a snowmobile safari. Very peaceful and simple. Used for hundreds of years and then abandoned before being used again when the town was destroyed in the Second World War. Take a torch.
