A large portion of the museum is closed for renovation, to be opened in spring 2019. The normal entry fee of 80 kr is reduced to 60 kr accordingly. The upstairs section of the museum houses some pieces of art from Varmlands history. Downstairs you...More

Beautifully situated this museum offers some different , actually very different from each other. Unfortunately the "historic" part was closed for some reason, maybe it was renovation. But it was quite good anyway. There is also a restaurant/cafe and of course a shop.

We visited the Varmlands Museum mainly for lunch. It was highly recommended and did not disappoint us. It is buffet style with salad options and two hot entrees. The fish was delicious as were the breads. We also wandered into the gift shop and found...More

The first thing we did while at this place was get a few gifts for my kids that are back home in the States. I got some cool key chains that have a light on them. My children will just love this!

Unfortunately, the history exposition was under construction. the rest of museum was quite ok. The building of museum was great and the restaurant looked very fashionable but traditional as well.

I really enjoyed this museum, it isn't very big but it's perfectly formed and I learnt some things. The cafe was my highlight. Very good food. I think the locals stop in here for the lunch. Always a good sign.

I've been to Varmlands Museum several times. Not only because I lived in Karlstad but also, it is a great place to take visitors. They usually have great exhibitions on and don't miss the wonderful lunch buffet as well with classic swedish foods.
