Norrmalm is Stockholm’s most central and busiest neighborhood. It’s home to the main shopping street, Drottninggatan, and to Stockholm icons like the Sergels Torg glass obelisk, the famous Hay Market with its Carl Milles sculptures, and the Hötorget Skyscrapers, a sight on every other Stockholm postcard. Norrmalm is also home to Sweden’s most traditional department stores Nordiska Kompaniet and Åhléns City juxtaposed with Stockholm’s most modern shopping mall, Mood Stockholm. Located near my hotel, I stopped here when I saw someone entering it. Inside were choir members getting ready for the service. I was told that they would open for service at 11:00 am.

This church is beautiful and well- maintained. I briefly took some pictures of its altar, wall decorations, etc I asked about the church denomination and learned that it is a Lutheran Church.

Did not stay for service due to time constraints. I was there at 9:00 and service does not start until 11:00 a.m.

The Church of Saint Clare is in central Stockholm, not far from the Central Railway Station. The church was founded during the 13th century, but it was later torn down and reconstructed from scratch during the 16th century, and further altered after that.

The 116 meters tower is one of the tallest church towers in Sweden, and the church is in a nice garden surrounded by modern buildings.

The church interior is interesting, especially the painted ceilings.

S:ta Clara is just 100 meters from Stockholm's central railway and subway stations. So you can drop in here if you are waiting for a train. It is open most of the time. They sometimes have church performances that you can enjoy. Or just sit down and do a prayer and enjoy the atmosphere.

(The area around the church is not top notch, but the church itself is worth a visit if you love old churches.)

We visited Stockholm by chance when my husband was sent there at the end of our French vacation Fall of 2019.

He had a day and a half to tour around. This cathedral was one of the places we visited. There was a free concert on this day, and that is always interesting to me to hear the organ and voices in different cathedrals in the world. I am an artist, so sat drawing during the concert. It was a wonderful experience, and many interesting things to see as one walked around in the space.

Second tallest church in the whole of Scandinavia. The church itself is a masterpiece of barock with inclusions from renaissance. The houses from late 1600:s and 1700:s. The family crypts around are in awful disrepair and unattended.

Dropped by to get a sense of Sweden’s church history. A beautiful example of gothic architecture that has been well preserved. Check for choir and organ concerts that happen occasionally.
