Children's author Hans Christian Andersen, known as H.C. in Denmark, has been immortalized next to Copenhagen's City Hall. He's holding a book and cane and has a well-worn lap from all the children (of all ages) who have sat on his knees.

If you are a generation of H.C.Andersen fairy tale, this is a must. Also to take kids to see the most famous writer. His statue is just opposite the Tivoli. We found no notice where to go so we had to ask for the direction.

Just to make a special trip to see this I might have passed, however, if you take the Hop On Hop Off bus and sit on the right side next to the window you can take a great picture

this is a larger than life statue of the famous author, located on the corner of the main town hall opposite the Tivoli Gardens, definitely worth searching out when you are in the area

HC Andersen was a popular author and his statue is near Tivoli. It’s quite a popular site since HC is very popular with kids. Nothing extraordinary but worth a visit.

Situated on HC Anderson boulevard just 2 mins from Tivoli and next to the town hall. Good sized statue and interesting to see.

A bronze statue in honor of a wonderful author. It is on the side of City Hall. There is nothing much else to say about it.

Average statue opposite Tivoli near the City Town Hall to commemorate the famous author. Easy to find and not crowded in Spring at least

If you love your fairy tales and you're in Copenhagen it's worth a short trip to this statue. Remember it is a statue! When you look at the statue, let me know if you think it inspired Roald Dahl' s Willy Wonka!

Homage to Hans Christian Andersen, this bronze statue is placed facing one of the entrances of the Tivoli Park, and on the side of the City Hall square (Radhudspladsen), you wont miss it !
