A very nice, traditional village of a kind You might not expect to find on otherwise busy Santorini. Lots of genuine achitecture:belltowers, churches, cavehouse, nice Tavernas.
Symposion by La Ponta has moved here!
Megalochori is a quaint village sitting on the side of a hill. It has retained much of its historical ancestry. Fortunately it was not busy when we visited at the end of the season so we were able to explore.and take photos without constantly bumping...More
Six of us stayed in Megalochori, and none of us regretted the choice of location. Quaint town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and wineries. Definitely more relaxing than staying in Fira or Oia (and less expensive), and whether using taxis or the bus (surprisingly efficient...More
This is the quiet side of the island. Less crowded. excellent for walking and exploring. Get a ride over here and then explore. A bit touristy but much less so than the main town. Nice local eateries. Friendly people. This is where the locals live....More

I don’t think that time will allow an Oia sunset I’m afraid. The length of time you are in santorini will not allow you to see and do everything that’s well worth seeing and doing. I can make some suggestions if you want to pick what is more tailored to your interests.
Fira has lots of shops restaurants and some museums. This is most likely where your boat will dock so won’t really involve transport other than a donkey or cable car up from the port.
If you would prefer a beach personally I would travel to Kamari over Perissa. You could go by bus from Fira or a taxi would be approximately 25 Euro. There is a lovely prom with lots of nice restaurants as well as the beach. It’s also close to the ancient ruins of Thera. There’s a beautiful outdoor cinema but again I think you will be leaving too early for that.
If you would like a walk you could get a taxi from Fira to nearby Firostefani and walk back which is a lovely walk, quite easy and with stunning caldera views.
Oia is stunning you could get a bus or taxi. I think a taxi could be a little bit expensive.
Santo winery would be lovely too if you wanted to get a taxi out there, have some wine and nibbles and enjoy the stunning views.
Hope these suggestions help.

Hi, I have used the tour - Full day sight seeing at Santorini from viator. You may have a look into the details. It costed me 43 euros last July'2016. The tour is very well organized and compact tour covering lots of major places in Santorini in a luxury bus - cost effective too and the village walk was one of them.
