Home to both the monastery and a museum it has one missing roof from where a few hundred cretan rebels decided to blow themselves up along with women and children to avoid being tortured and killed by incoming ottoman soldiers.

Definitely worth an hour to visit. Very interesting history. The museum was incredible to see paintings, weapons, embroidered clothing worn. Read the stories in the Museum, very moving/emotional.

Just normal casual clothing, would suggest not really short shorts, and in any case, in the hot sun it is good idea to cover upper arms and knees/thighs!!
