Located on the Eleftheriou Venizelou Square (more commonly known as Lions Square). Providing 1000 barrels of water a day it solved the problem of supplying Heraklion with water.

The fountain is at a good cross roads in the old city. It makes for an easily findable meeting point for a group.

It was in the center of town. VERY photogenic statue. It was just difficult to take a picture because of either the foot traffic or people lounging. It's not in a secluded area where tourists are limited to viewing. It's a part of the town.

It is just a fountain, but the shopping and the gelato make this destination a score of a 3. There are a lot of places to eat and stroll, so the area is a good location to spend the afternoon.
