During your walk in the historical center of Povoa de Varzim, the Church of Santa Maria de Varzim, “primitive Matriz church” who is located in the “Largo das Dores”, was eccentric in the center of Póvoa. In the 18th century, but the church proved insufficiency for this large population. Being so, the new Matriz church was built on the terrace next to the old Casa da Câmara.
