Couldn’t believe how few people were looking through the museum and church - we only saw half a dozen others during the hour or so we were there. A very interesting insight into the work of this charitable organisation, topped off with a visit to...More

We only realized what the museum was really about, after entering. Fascinating to follow how work for good causes started centuries ago and still carries on. Interesting portraits of benefactors since beginnings of Misericordia, medical tools used to help the suffering, original documents - most...More

As museums go, this one is well up there. The exhibit is well planned and thought out, and done both in English and Portuguese which does help. The building itself is very interesting. My favourite part of the visit were the display of antique medical...More

Visited with my Dad. We really like religious art and this museum had lots to please us and plenty of descriptive labels in English. Wonderful to see how progressive the Portuguese were about helping those less fortunate. There is also a free app you can...More

On the plus side I learn't of the existence of this quite remarkable organisation. Beyond that it was basically a shrine to the cause and a bit repetitive in its worthiness. Not what I was expecting and deathly quiet. It felt like the sort of...More

This museum tells the story of the Miséricordia and does so in a very nicely structured way. Starting from the third floor, it leads you through the history from its early start showing their hard work with the poor and ill, to their later support...More

I really liked this museum. It isn't too big but shows enough and it very nicely laid out. The church connected to it is very beautiful and worth a visit. It isn't expensive and the staff are lovely, enthusiastic and friendly.

I'm a retired social worker who has worked with many similar populations in America served by this charitable organization in Portugal, so it was very fascinating and interesting for me to tour through this rather newly opened museum. I especially liked the third floor exhibits...More
