Rua das Flores is a good street for strolling...not too steep. There are all kinds of shops from inexpensive souvenirs, clothing shops, restaurants and stores selling Porto merchandise. There are usually musicians or some kind of entertainment along the street.

Stroll up this street and relax at some decent cafe spots. Mercador cafe is particularly good. No hassle.

This is the most expensive street full of overpriced but very good quality goods and restaurants. One example is a port shop has a bottle of LBV 2012 at £35, yet the same brand and year 300 metres away is £17.00

This renewed street is now full of great stores (new and old/traditional), good cafés and bars. It is always crowded, but it is worth a visit.

Rua das Flores is a 16th century street, now pedestrianised, with a lovely vibe and in the middle of the old city. I would use and the riverside Ribeira area as the base for your exploration of Porto. Come back here for lunch and dinner...More

... almost completely refurbished. You can find here very good restaurants, hotels, shopping and animation. This is one of the most traditional streets at Porto, and you can walk it without hurry since it is pedestrian only.

My husband will only tolerate so much when it comes to walking and shopping through these tourist areas, but this street has enough interesting shops to make it a good destination that will not try one's patience. Not a very large or long street, but...More

I'm sorry, I don't know where the hotel you identified is. Most of the street is a pedestrian street, but there are cross streets that may allow taxis to come very close.
