I was deeply moved by the iconic carvings and art found within this intimate and beautiful Church, with a Romanesque arched nave. Situated on the Largo da Oliveira Square, this is all that remains of the Monastery that the Castelo de Guimaraes was built to...More
Thrilling to stand in the center of this town with all its history. Look closely at the center structure in town with all its carvings, amazing
Portugal is full of churches, yet every one is very nice. This one too, with an old like exterior. You can enter for 5 minutes and relax.
Whilst visiting the Historic Centre we visited this church and was surprised by the stone simplicity. The side niches held beautifully ornate religious images and the image behind the altar was quite striking
Nothing special here but it is nice and cool on a hot afternoon. Portugal is full of catholic churches some more over the top then others. this one was average
Stop inside while you are walking through the medieval town of Guimaraes. Church is small but is really pretty inside. Take the time to see the beautiful artwork and statuary.
This is in the main square so if you're in town, you'll eventually find this lovely church. The structure is small but imposing at the same time. Very interesting.
We visited Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira and it has some interesting artwork including some nice sculptures. When we visited that day there was no one inside which made it quite serene. Be sure to visit if you are in the area.
This is a must if visiting Guimares, where Portugal was born. The church is on a delightful plaza where you can relax and allow yourself to be surrounded with the ancient vibes of the town.
