we went to the castle in early evening and the castle itself was closed. However you can spend a long time going round the magnificient surroundings to enjoy the views.

One of the places which you must see in Guimaraes. Medieval castle, nice surrounding, small chapel near the castle and and very close to the city center.

I wouldn’t recommend entering as there’s nothing to see in particular. Walking inside with young kids or elders is to be taken with caution as the floor is irregular

It is a city with fantastic medieval characteristics. The well-preserved historic center and the welcoming population. All very beautiful. It's worth visiting.

Worth seeing, there was a celebration the week we were there. So the castle was decorated with flags and such. But a must see for historic value.

Not a lot inside but interesting to read the history in the exhibition. We bought combination tickets to also visit the Dukes Palace which has more to see

I really mean by that Guimarães itself although the castle is a must see. Guimarães is the the birthplace of Portugal and is a must experience for those remotely interested in history.
