Interesting to walk around, both through the narrow lanes and around the walls. At one point you can walk down steps to see the old city well.

During the summer festivals, the medieval Fair is surely worth visiting. The jousts and the medieval tournments and stalls contribute help you relive ancient history and long gone rivalries between Portugal and Leon. Very theatrical and fun to watch and even participate.

Very well conserved, with a beautiful castle, nice bars and a wonderful atmosphere. It's worth the uphill walk.

The citadel is the main attraction in the old town. When its orientation is explained you get a new appreciation of the troubled history Portugal has with Spain.

This citadel is still in very good condition. The gates on either side give access to not only a very well preserved fortress but also a small secluded village with small side streets and a very good and complete city wall which you can climb...More
