About
The biggest International Art Center, Gallery and Art shop based on Madeira island with worldwide delivery. We work as an art residence with Portuguese and foreign artists, representing their interests far beyond our island. We also work with several Portuguese ceramists to highlight their contemporary take on traditional Portuguese ceramics. You can get to know the artists by visiting the page ART RESIDENTS and our BLOG. See the CURRENT STOCK section for collections and works available now. All artworks are unique and have original certificate of authenticity The shop is open every day, except Sunday . The gallery is open from Monday to Friday and temporarily from 10 to 5 pm.

When you compare this place to the so called "Museu de Arts Contemporanea in Calheta" it was magnificent but Calheta had not set the bar very high!!
The exhibits were interesting and worthy of discussion. However as we had gone to the shop first, the address on the website, and inquired as to the location of the gallery, only to be told by the assistant that she did not know if it was open, we were not impressed by the staff. We enjoyed our visit, when we found the gallery and would recommend a short visit but whether is it worth going out of your way is questionable.

Thanks for your sincere opinion. We are really divided into 2 parts and communication is not always easy. But we sincerely put our soul into our work and our gallery. And of course, we all take into account the fact that this is a small private art gallery in a completely microscopic Funchal (compared to the capitals of other states). Our exhibitions are always the result of a huge selection on an island that does not have a large number of artists.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They took us on a tour of the entire upstairs gallery and let us view all of the amazing works. They were very patient while we took our time to make a decision. We purchased a beautiful painting by a Madeiran artist and the gallery offered complimentary shipping and handling to the US. I would highly recommend stopping by to enjoy their wonderful collection!

A great place to buy handmade pieces at a good range of prices - we particularly liked the ceramics. As well as the shop, there is a little cafe and upstairs is an art gallery (no entry fee) showing contemporary art which is well worth a visit. Staff were very friendly. The arts centre is in the heart of the old city where all the painted doors are.

I will not criticise the art, although most of it was not to our taste. Who knows, on our next visit we might really like it.
We have visited art galleries throughout Europe, including the Ufizzi, the Prado and the Musee de Beaux Artes and we don't like everything there!
What I will say it was free to enter, we were made welcome, the works were well displayed.

It was so nice to visit this gallery. I was greeted by wonderful girls who answered all questions and were very friendly. I really liked that the gallery doesn't focus on one style and works with artists of different techniques. Very pleasant atmosphere and the spirit of art in every corner.

Discovered this shop while walking across the streets of Funchal during our trip in Madeira.
It was very pleasant to discover this mix of original arts, the place had very good vibes, also due to the tenants who were very friendly. If you want to bring back some souvenir others than useless magnets or cork bags...visit them!

Thank you so much for such an accurate and detailed image. We have nothing against cork bags, but the abundance of Chinese souvenirs in other places really puzzles most guests of the island. I'm sure we're filling this out pretty well.

We decided on a cultural day in Funchal and this gallery is a must. Right opposite the bus station down by the esplanade the entrance is tucked away but the exhibits are worthy of the effort. There they have art workshops too and 3D glasses to enhance some of the work. Highly recommended.

I like collecting postcards but prefer ones that aren’t just photos of the place. This was the only place I found that offered cool and unique postcards of the painted doors of Funchal! Also has a lot of handmade art. Cool place

This is the first time I visit Madeira and Funchal and I am absolutely in love with this place. I am an artist by professione, a singer and a actress, so I am always a great supporter of every activity that involves art. And this is really a unique place. I would love to come back here for a vacation!

The young girl in the gift shop said she thought the gallery was closed and couldn’t tell us where it was!!! She was certainly not interested in being helpful! After some wandering we did find the entrance and it was OPEN!
Lovely gallery ( and it’s free) with some really interesting art work displayed. It is well worth a visit to see local contemporary art. Thought what was on display of a much higher quality than work in The Contemporary Art Museum in Calheta.
