I went to this place with my girlfriend, and twice they rejected entry for us for NO REASON AT ALL!
We tried to ask what the reason was for not letting us in, but no answer was given. Please never take personally if they suddenly reject your entry and don't give you any reason for it.
There are other places where you can go if this happens to you.. the disco called the jam is almost right next door. Much better place! Also, the copacabana and the vintage bar are better choices than this crap ... excuse me the trap.

As I was a frequently customer of TRAP i decided to went there in the night of October 4th to October 5th.
I was surprised with the random selection criteria to get in the party.
Never happened before, but this was also the last time.
Ther security only let in "the friends".
I wouldn't recommend this as I did before.
Sorry. A good place is made by the people not only for the space.

I want to Trap Friday 25 of September 2015 with some friends was last day in Madeira, two of my friend want true but me and friend stay outside we been told,the boss said we cannot go in a lot of people friends of security let at list 10 people go in site,I think that's is not correct,they been racist I think in Madeira we have to respect everyone the same way,
I find a friend and he spoke with a security they ask why we cannot go true they start laugh,
I can believe this is happen to me last night I had money to drink a lot but this security needs a course and have more respect for a customer.
I never been Rude I ask 3 of security why he cannot go true all the ansers the same they was playing with a member of staff with a botle of water they look to us and laugh,
They complaint Madeira doesn't have a jobs so people like that not need to work with a customers need to stay at home the customers pay for them get the money.

We ended up here several times during our week stay in Funchal. It was virtually opposite our hotel so it was convenient, but we loved the roof bar and the cocktails were excellent and very well priced. The rest of the bar seemed very quiet with hardly anyone on any of the other floors but I wouldn't bother there anyway, just get onto the top and relax.

Seems to cater to the the timeshare holders of the ubiquitous Pestana nearby. My partner was resolutely ignored at the bar but I eventually caught attention as we were thinking of leaving. Then we discovered that smoking is allowed indoors on all levels which is a bit of a culture shock. I can't deny it's popular but it does seem to attract the type of British tourists I go abroad to avoid. We left quickly when we recognised 3 people walking in who had earlier been involved in a serious altercation near the restaurant we ate at. Not surprised to see 3 police cars in attendance nearby about 45 minutes later.

Had many evenings at Trap in November 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food and drink. We returned this year and were frankly disappointed. Don't know if it has changed hands but if so it needs to change back ! We went inside and were given drinks menus. my husband asked for a food menu , the young lady went outside and brought a menu in and almost threw it on the table. Then we were just left and nobody came back to us. Also we were sat next to an open window - 2 people came in, sat down at a table next to us and lit up a cigarette each !! That was the last straw for us, we got up and walked out, my husband just telling the bar staff we had changed our minds.I didn't say a word, i would have exploded if I had . Needless to say we will never go back there especially as there are better places to eat with excellent customer service.

Unprofessional staff, totally ignored by bar staff, did eventually manage to order some drinks and then it was a nightmare to pay the bill so we ended up walking out without paying. If you want a good music bar try The Hole In One just up the road,very nice pint of Guinness and top class service.

Great location and nice roof terrace with live music.
Just no system in place when ordering paying for drinks,ordered two cocktails which are great value before midnight at five euros each.
Then the poor barman was left with no server for over an hour he was rushing around delivering drinks Without any receipts,ours included when a server did arrive there were already numerous people complaining about their bills,when we decided to leave we told the server we still had not received our bill another five minutes passed during a lot of confused looks from the bar man she returned with a twenty four euro bill with six items on it, we only had two drinks having already paid for the first round we had.
We explained this could not be our bill to which more arm waving and head scratching from the bar area another five minutes and this time a new bill presents itself with six more different items and has now increased to thirty six euros, we told her this was not what we had this is where it gets good she said yes this is your bill.
At this point we just wanted to leave and approached the bar and spoke to the barman and explained what we had and asked for ten euro yipppeee finally.
Upon leaving the establishment we saw the original server downstairs no customers about just holding the same tray talking to another server doing likewise.
While upstairs the terrace was packed with customers,some much needed supervision I’m sure would improve the service.

A group of 4 women and 2 were not allowed entrance without any plausible explanation. First was the boss orders, 2nd was because those 2 persons were not regulars, 3rd was 250 euros minimum. If you are thinking about visiting this place make shore you are a regular 😂 it was a terrible experience, only because someone decided that we didn't fit in the place without even saying why. Just a no and its not possible and please go away. And the worst part was... you 2 can come in but those 2 can't. Who the hell do you think you are to discriminate people like this. Shame on you! Even if you tried to ashame us.

This place is just great. Great snack food, reasonably priced drinks and live music. Really funky décor and a disco room which opens at eleven. The girl singer was really good and so funny and friendly. we called back a couple of times and really enjoyed our time there including their 4th anniversary cake.

Hi I am thinking of going to Funchal - I like going out to bars and restaurants and watching the world go by - would I be bored there as I like a bit of atmosphere and thinking of going end August. I like sea front and don't mind off front bars as long as there are not about 4 of us just sat there with no atmosphere! Any comments would be appreciated as I want to book in the next few days. thanks

Bit late to answer but will anyway!
Forget it, Funchal is for older people due to timeshares. So they cater for old people, just eating really, no music bars except TRAP that is lively at weekends 2 to 6 A.M. I hear!
Only decent bar is Number 2 bar, good price, popular, but no music. From 'Spring chicken' 😳

hi I would like to know if there are hairdryers we will be in a twin bedded studio room an will we be confident of having a shower too as I noticed it said bath or shower, the very thought of a room without one doesn't bear thinking about a shower that is
