This suspension bridge across the Tagus River has the longest central span in Europe, at 1.5 miles. It also looks quite a bit like San Francisco's famed "Golden Gate Bridge," though this one was named after the revolution.

We have the chance to walk along the promenade from city center to Torre de Belem this time and passed underneath this bridge on our way. The red iron bridge is the icon in Lisbon. Originally it is called Salazar Bridge but renamed to 25...More

I was only few hours in Lisbon and newly equipped with an eBike, I was cycling towards this massive bridge on my way to the Belem tower (pronounced Blem), it is quite an impressive architectural landmark worth seeing. A nice tip is that just underneath...More

Best viewed from a boat on the River Tagus, this well known Lisbon landmark is truly impressive. It dominates the landscape from every angle, including the air as it is directly under the flight path of Lisbon airport.

Nearly 100 years in the planning and construction, this is a magnificent bridge, and the small museum at Ave. India is worth the 6 Euro admission. Not only the history but the sheer amounts of steel and concrete used are amazing. Ride the elevator and...More

You will be able to see the April 25th bridge from many vantage points in central Lisbon, along the Belem waterfront and from taking a car/tram from central Lisbon to/from Belem. It is a beautiful feat of architecture and great views when you are driving...More

It mightn't measure up to Vasco da Gama Bridge further upriver either, but this is still one of the most iconic structures in Lisbon. Best viewed from the waterfront or from the gentrified industrial surroundings of LX Factory.

Really cool to see something like this in Lisbon out of all places. The views in the area were beautiful, and it reminded me of San Francisco’s famed Golden Gate. Being able to go under the bridge was really cool!

I’m a fan of bridges, not just from a functional perspective but visually as well. We saw this bridge from both Lisbon and Belem and then crossed it as we returned from the countryside of Portugal. Clearly we would rank this highly on our “bridges...More

Designed by the same architect as San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge and you can see the similarity . Our guide told us it was formerly known as the Salazar Bridge, but was renamed after the Carnation Revolution ended the dictatorship and restored democracy to Portugal!

It's pretty easy to reach there, just take a ferry from Cais da sodre to Cacilhas and from there take a bus, you get return tickets for ferry and bus, it's costs less than 5 Euro
