Escape the hustle and bustle of the city!
Oct 2021
This is a massive park in the middle of the city. It is quite a hike from the other tourist areas, but it's a lovely setting to relax and take in the views of the city. There are sculptures and gardens to explore or just sit on a bench and people watch. Lots of dogs and kids running around enjoying the green expanse!

Panoramic views
Sep 2021
It was quite a surprise to find an expansive 64-acre public park smack-dab in the center of Lisbon. This manicured green space culminates at the park’s northern end where a lookout provides panoramic views that stretch all the way to the Tagus River. There is also a contemporary monument by Portuguese sculptor João Cutileiro commemorating the revolution of April 25, 1974. Our guide mentioned that the world’s largest Portuguese flag is usually flown here (but not when we visited).

Something for everyone.
Jul 2021
Edward VII Park and it’s immediate vicinity seem to have something for just about everyone: families, couples - old and young, and solos.

Playground; cafes/coffee kiosks; Estufa Fria; Jose Lopes Pavilion - now a venue for special events, so was closed at time of my visit; however, one can still enjoy the beautiful exterior tile work; lots of shaded park benches; interesting statues; and a scenic viewpoint at the top of the hill.

Very easy to access by either bus or metro.

An excellent city center park
Jun 2021
We walked here from Rossio, taking our time of the 20-30 minute walk down shady pedestrian boulevards. We could have taken the train, but we wanted to experience the city, get some exercise and minimize potential COVID exposure.

The park itself is lovely, with the highlights being a wonderful botanical garden (extra fee) and the spectacular view from the top, looking all the way down to the plaza and the river.

Good park
Apr 2021
Very nice park with the iconic designs on the grass! It is close to Marques do Pombal, a big square, I went there on foot. The park has many benches and in the end there was what seemed to be a botanical garden. There is a bridge and from there you have the best photo opportunity for the grass designs. Overall a great place to spend some time on a sunny day!

Park with a view
Feb 2021 • Solo
This park is very large, and located on a slope, at the viewpoint at the top you can see all the way to the river, it's quite spectacular...the park itself is very well maintained, it's a real delight to stroll around here

Good place to chill

The park is really nice to chill, away from the busy city. You can lay down and enjoy the view of the city.

The beautiful gardens and massive columns
Sep 2019
The label “Park” does not seem to do justice to this gorgeous complex which contains so much symbolism in its various features. The main feature of this public park is the lovely verdant lawn with its perfectly trimmed shrubbery and manicured lawn. While this lawn is used for events including an annual fair, it is almost too beautiful to walk on! Beyond the great lawn there are strikingly tall towers that commemorate Elizabeth II’s visit to this site. Adjacent to the towers are stone sculptures that at first appear to be randomly placed. However, they are actually a special monument that pays tribute to the end of dictatorship rule in Portugal. Not far from this end of the park is a fairly large greenhouse that can also be visited.

I appreciated the detailed site map that explained a bit about each of special areas of this site.

This is a surprisingly peaceful place to visit in the heart of Lisbon. Even with its regular influx of visitors, one can find quiet refuge at this site with its great lawn and monuments.

Certainly worth a visit
Mar 2020 • Couples

The Edward VII Park is out of the centre of Lisbon. It’s at the end of a very long road, called Avenida da Liberdade. The park itself was named after the British king, Edward VII.

From the park buses sell tours of the city. We visited in late February so unfortunately it was raining.

The walkways are extremely wide and pass along both sides of the park, which is very long too. It is the largest park in central Lisbon.

The flower beds, which were starting to flower also looked very attractive. There a lots of box hedges throughout the parks length.

Part of the way up the right hand sight of the park is a very attractive sports pavilion.

It’s a very attractive walk, preferably without the rain and it is steeply inclined, but worth it.
