CAMPO PEQUENO'S BULLRING Campo Pequeno's Bullring is one of the most iconic monuments of the city of Lisbon and of Portugal. Considered one the most important buildings of Neo-Arabic style in the country, it was designed by Architect José Dias da Silva and ranks among the most beautiful bullrings in the world, having opened its doors on the 18th of August 1892. The monument is property of the Casa Pia de Lisboa and is classified as a building of Public Interest. The history of Campo Pequeno's Bullring crosses paths with the history of Tauromachy. Campo Pequeno's arena has received and still does the majority of world class figures in the history of bullfighting, on a course with more than 120 years of existence. Its historical significance transcends its tauromachy related activities. It was here that several important episodes of the political and social life of Lisbon and of Portugal took place. The building underwent deep restoration works, between 2000 and 2006, under the responsibility of Architect José Bruschy, becoming a major and modern multi-purpose space, able to accommodate, besides bullfights, a vast array of other events. It was also complemented with a commercial galleria, cinemas, restaurants and parking area. Schedule: Shopping Centre: every day from 10am to 11pm. Closed on Christmas day and on New Year. Food & Beverages (Exterior): From 10am to 2pm (closing time may vary according to the restaurant) Cinemas: Monday to Friday, opening at 12pm. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, opening at 11am. Closing after last session. This schedule may be changed according to festive seasons. Parking Area: open 24H VISITS Visit Campo Pequeno's Arena and Museum and get to know an icon of Lisbon. Timetable: Every day from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 7pm. From November to March visits end at 6pm. In bullfighting days visits of the Arena end at 4pm and visits of the Museum at 8pm. Closed during special event days.

We attended concert of AmorElectro on Valentine`s day at this place. The concert area was converted from an old bull-fighting arena. So the interiors are very authentic. The sound system and echoes were good. Only problem was the space between seats. When you sit down,...More

It looks like an old converted bull ring. The pretty building sits in the middle of a large plaza. When you first go inside, it seems rather deserted and lifeless. However, if you make your way downstairs, everything comes alive with shops, a cinema and...More

A regular mall with very limited shops. If there isn’t an event, you will not be able to see the old fighting arena as it would be closed off to public access. You an see faint hints of it, no more.

We went to a wine fair in the bull ring which was a rather interesting event to go to. Apparently the ring is often used for alternative events.

A small but good shopping concourse beneath the arena on the Avenue of the Republic. There is a large food court, a well stocked grocery store (you can buy wine for as low as 1.15 euros) and cinemas. This place is open till 11 pm...More

I met up with an old friend at Campo Pequeno and she showed me around. Later on we went for a meal in one of the restaurants there. And, honestly, if you're in the neighbourhood, it's well worth the visit.
