Enjoyable few hours

Was quite quiet when I visited but that was just what I wanted. Time to myself with a nice lot of animals to see. A very hot day so a lot of them were as sleepy as me. Would recommend a visit.

One of the best zoos I have visited in a long time
May 2021 • Family
The zoo is beautifully kept with many varieties of animals. The zoo is very much a nod to a classic Victorian garden. Exhibits are spacious and you can get a good view of the animals; there is a nice compromise between this and animal privacy/shelter. Access with a pram is not easy in all areas unless you’re willing to carry it up steps.

Toilet facilities clean and tidy but do need more baby change areas.

Dining area is located outside the zoo (you need a stamp on your hand for re-entry) and my one and only criticism is that there are not even close to being enough tables for the capacity the zoo can hold. The food is quite expensive too, even for Lisbon.

The aerial cable cars over the zoo are a great feature and give another perspective to viewing the animals.

Managed to see the dolphins but the show was closed due to covid.

Would definitely recommend Lisbon zoo!

A great day out ..
Apr 2021 • Couples
When you think of a zoo, you imagine certain animals being housed there. Well, every animal you can think of and more are at this zoo, and it’s a wonderful day out. Well kept and clean animals and lots of areas to eat and rest, topped off with a free cable car ride over the park. Well worth a visit!

Visiting de "Jardim Zoologico de Lisboa".
May 2021
The zoo in Lisbon opened his doors in the year 1884 and was the first of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula. Within a few years, the Jardim Zoológico de Lisboa had built up a large collection of exotic animal species, mainly from the then Portuguese colonies. Initially, the zoo was located in the Parque de São Sebastião da Pedreira, after which it moved to its current location in the Sete Rios district in 1905. After the zoo became very outdated at the end of the twentieth century, various new construction projects took place, such as the construction of the great ape complex Templo dos Primatas and the tiger enclosures Vale dos Tigres.
This zoo is especially interesting for people with children, you can easily stay there for more than 2/3 hours, something to eat and drink is also possible. They cannot be compared with the Zoo in Antwerp Belgium. For people who are in Portugal by car, it is best to leave their vehicle in the underground parking “” Empark - Sete Rios - Zoo ”located at Praça Marechal Humberto Delgado s / n, 1500-423 Lisboa. You leave the car park with the elevator, and you come up just before the entrance of the zoo, it is just across the street.

Zoos are places to promote environmental education about wildlife, not a business. This zoo has a large list of sponsors but charge too much to access. In addition to their old and small facilities, the price is unaffordable for many people. I am an expert in these facilities and I have visited lots of Zoos around the world. I do not recommend it.

Nice old zoo in Lisbon the animals looked happy which is always a good start it was quite when we went which was a pleasure unlike trying to find a parking space of which there are few generally a good family day out if you've got kids as there's a large petting zoo for the kids to be able to touch and learn about animals.

To much animal spaces under construction at the same time
Nov 2020
The visit to the zoo turned out to be a big disappointment because when we arrived at the zoo around 16:30 we were informed that the cable car was no longer working at that time. This would not be a major problem. However, when we went in and went to see the chimpanzees, they were already in their cages because the staff was almost finished with the work day and for safety reasons, which are naturally perceived, the animals are collected in their cages. The location of the elephants were under construction and as such were not accessible, the lions were also unable to see them, as many other spaces are in conservation / repair works. All these works and schedules of the staff make sense, however I ask: do they have all these spaces of being suffering works at the same time? Could it be that due to so many constraints the price, which is not at all economical, could not be reduced? It is the note that I hope to be constructive so that those entitled to rethink that we cannot / should continue to charge the same price when the "final product" is far below what was announced and its normal functioning.

Expensive
Oct 2020 • Solo
Hollymolly, 22.50euro 1 person?.. why not have it cheaper to get more people and therefor more money? Is the zoo only for rich people? On top of that, I felt sorry for some big animals in small cages. The zoo should cover with trees, or similar, the view of the elephants area as it's not nice buildings as background.
The cable car was not working, the dolphin show was not on, ... again, 22.50euros? No wonder it was nearly empty.

Outstanding Zoo! Perfect for all ages!
Aug 2020 • Family
We had so much fun, the only photo I could get was of this people-loving ape! There was just so much to do and see! Our 7 year old had never been so excited! This beats every zoological park I have seen on the East Coast of the United States! And the best part? The zoo was totally equipped for guests during CoVid. It was a really comfortable, socially distanced, sanitizer and signs visible, experience. It was super easy to get to and super easy to park. Total cost of parking was less than 3€. One adult ticket and one child ticket: Total cost 37€. Unfortunately, we did not have time to do the gondolas, but we will next time. For sure! Very excited to go back, hopefully in the near future! Also - they allow you to bring in your own water and snacks. Next time, I will definitely pack more of those because the only good option on-site is McDonald’s. However, you can leave to eat elsewhere, and come back same day with a hand stamp.
