Like many others I wouldn’t bother queuing to actually ride it but it’s well worth searching out (both top and bottom in my opinion) for the photographic opportunities it provides because it is quite a unique piece of mechanical lift architecture. It was first inaugurated...More

Only one of the two lifts was working and the waiting time,(between 6 and 7 pm) when we used the lift, was around 90 minutes from when we joined the queue. Frustratingly the lift departs every 15 minutes, regardless of the length of the queue,...More

Waited over an hour to get on elevator. It only ran every 15-20 minutes. Looked like we were very close to getting on but when we checked the queue was turning a corner and snaking back into the elevator entrance. We got out of line...More

This is clearly a landmark in Lisbon but gets very busy and the queues can be very busy. If you want to get to the top then it’s not a long walk unless you have had enough of walking up hills etc.

There are many places in Lisbon to get a spectacular view without queueing for an hour and a half without shade and paying for the privilege. Take a nice photo from the bottom and go and make better use of your time! There are lots...More

I was in Lisbon for the Eurovision so naturally it was busy with approximately 15000 extra tourists in the city. I went in the mid afternoon and the queue was 1.5 hours. There was no way I was waiting in that. You can easily walk...More

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply

earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its

The lift takes you up two street levels but you can walk up stairs or there’s a winding road. I would class it as only moderate walking

Between 6 am and 8 am. The views are gorgeous this time of the day. And after 9am the lines are very large for remainder of the day. Do it first. Have breakfast close by afterwards!
