Hello,
I went with my school, went to Sintra Palace which was absolutely amazing to say the least and so many restaurants there to choose from you will be spoilt for choice. Bear in mind there are some queues for certain places like the Palace or the gardens. There is also a puppet show for kids in the Palace, my students loved it! And a Shakespeare show too in the same place which was very funny.
On the way back we stopped at the famous bakery in Belem called Pasteis de Belem for their famous Pastel de nata, please try! and then we went to the local restaurant O Prado, brilliant and so cheap. Seafood is their speciality and snails! Honestly you need to go there because not only is the price cheap but for the same food elsewhere i.e tourist restaurant, the price is VERY expensive.
We stayed in Cascais for 7 days, the town is beautiful, loads of lovely restaurants, traditional bars and the beach is perfect or paddle boarding and going on small boat cruises.
We also went hiking, via the most western point of Europe which is in Cabo de roca, the trails there are really good although I would get maybe a guide as the one we went on, was a little tricky for my students! Also for shopping for food, go to Jumbo, its huge and cheap especially the White Port, please make sure you buy this, it is amazing!
We went on a boat trip to see the dolphins, and wow it was amazing to see them in their natural habitat. The food on the boat was first class as well getting to swim in the water too. SaboArrabida was the boats name.
We also went surfing at the main beach called Guincho beach, brilliant beach for kids, the waves are awesome but cold!
I love Portugal! Visit the statue of Christ too, if not only for the views!
Hope I have helped a little!
