Long, winding road from Monchique up to this viewing point. Over 900 metres, the highest point in the Algarve. Good views to Portimao and the coast. Cafe and gift shop at the summit

Great walk with excellent views, we did it from Monchique. Love the cork forests, the wildflowers and butterflies. Contrary to some posts we saw no refreshment places anywhere near the top which suited us just fine.

We walked up from Monchique and saw no-one until the top when we met a large Dutch walking party. We then descended the other side in a very roundabout but beautiful way.

Get away from the crowds! If you must, drive most of the way, but in the end Walk/ scramble you have to. Views and then some! Crowds? They are over the other side of Monchique on foia!

If you want the other view from hill top to coastline in the Algarve which does not have commercialism, this is your place. Peace and quiet, and stunning views to the coast. You need a clear day to appreciate the view, sit down and take...More
